Outdoor Boudoir Hits Different

I’m just going to say it: being naked outside hits different. I knew an outdoor bathtub session in the forest would be beautiful, but I didn’t quite expect how much everyone would love the experience itself. There is something about getting out of the studio and into the trees that changes the entire energy of a boudoir session. You’re not surrounded by walls, instead you’re outside, surrounded by nature and your body feels less like something you’re supposed to be evaluating and more like something you’re simply getting to experience. And I think that’s what makes these outdoor boudoir sessions so special.

They’re intentionally quick, because honestly, they don’t need to be an entire production. You show up, we get you settled, I guide you through some movement and posing, and we let the forest do what it does best. The trees, the light, the birds, the texture of the wood, the breeze moving through your hair — all of those little things create something that feels much more organic than a traditional boudoir setup.

A nude woman poses with a bathtub in a forest, variously sitting, standing, and reclining among trees in both color and black-and-white images.

There’s also something a little mischievous about it, which I love. Maybe it’s the fact that you’re doing something you wouldn’t normally do. Maybe it’s stepping outside wrapped in a robe and eventually deciding you really don’t care about the robe anymore. Or maybe it’s simply the feeling of realizing that your body can exist in a beautiful place without needing to be covered, corrected, posed into submission, or made to look like someone else’s version of sexy.

You just get to be in it. That’s always been my favorite part of boudoir anyway — helping women feel rather than pose — and being outside seems to make that happen even faster. There is less to overthink when you’re listening to the birds, feeling the air on your skin and settling into the rhythm. You start responding to what is actually happening instead of worrying about whether you’re doing it “right.”

A woman poses in and around a bathtub placed in a forest. She wears white lingerie in most shots, sometimes blowing bubbles. Some photos are in black and white.

And, as it turns out, you don’t have to be particularly adventurous to love it. You can be the woman who has never done boudoir before, who is a little nervous about the whole thing and has absolutely no idea what she’s supposed to do with her hands. You can be someone who has done boudoir before but wants something that feels completely different. You can simply be a woman who looked at the photos and thought, well… that looks like fun. And guess what, it so is.

There’s something wonderfully freeing about taking something traditionally intimate and putting it somewhere unexpected. Outdoor boudoir photography doesn’t have to feel overly posed or polished; it can feel quiet, earthy, playful, feminine and a little bit wild, all at the same time.

And maybe that’s why these sessions have been such a hit.

More than pretty photos, you’re getting an excuse to step outside your normal routine for a little while and do something that feels a tiny bit daring, a tiny bit luxurious and completely yours.

So yes, I stand by it: Naked outside just hits different.
