You can’t just call them boudoir photos, it’s so much more than that.
Simply calling them boudoir photos isn’t giving this type of photography enough credit. For some of my clients it isn’t even about the photos so much as it is about the experience. For me, for ALL my clients that’s what it’s ALL about.
This. is. an. experience.
It’s like when someone finds out I shoot boudoir, 90% of the time I hear “I wish I had the confidence to do something like that,” or “I have always wanted to do that but (insert excuses here).” So let’s unpack these responses because I cant help but literally roll my eyes when people say them to me.
“I wish I had the confidence to do that!” Well, newsflash but NONE of my clients come to me because their bucket is overflowing with confidence. MANY of the women I have worked with came to me because they were searching for that boost of self acceptance. Maybe their friend had a boudoir experience that they raved about, they read the reviews about how it was a ‘life changing experience’ or they noticed on my website/social media that I work with women just like them and they started to realize this is something they can do! It is something you can do.
“I have always wanted to do that but (insert excuses here).” I hear all the excuses with the most popular being “I need to loose weight.” NEED? Who told you you need to loose weight, like it’s a requirement to do this? NO ONE did, it’s all in your head and it’s the exact reason you NEED this experience. So unpack your excuse and stop letting yourself be in the way of an experience you need, you deserve.
Some of my MOST favorite sessions have been of clients that were beyond nervous, tried to tell me they weren’t sexy or almost canceled. Lady N was one of those clients, but you would never know that by looking at her images.
