Supporting other Denver Small Business owners is important to me. So I wanted to start highlighting other women who are kicking ass locally.
Many Denver small business owners have come into the studio for a Sit With Me session. In many cases these business owners & I have been following each other on IG for awhile so it’s nice to meet in real life. This was the case with Bethany & I! She was getting ready to speak at an event that I was also apart of, the FemCo event and needed some updated images. She has a calming presence & I am excited to introduce her to you! So without further adieu, Bethany Russell!
Hi! I’m Bethany, a feminist therapist. I have a private practice in Cap Hill where I offer therapy to the ones yearning to use their voice; the ones quickly pulled into the past at the slightest resemblance of a memory; those struggling to stay present in their relationships and career; the ones who identify as the black sheep; the adult children releasing the coattails of their parents’ religion; the ones who find it difficult to stay out of bed during the day; those who are grappling with the feelings of loneliness that often come with moving to a new city or starting a new venture; the ones who fumble setting boundaries with their parents, partners, children, or bosses for fear of rejection; the ones adjusting to life with the newfound title of “single” or “divorced”. I use several modalities to help address these difficulties such as EMDR, IFS, mindfulness and experiential work.
How/why did you start this Denver small business?
I decided when I was 13 that I wanted to be a psychologist with a private practice. I was requesting information to graduate schools all over and looked up to some popular psychologists/therapists/psychiatrists as inspiration. Some individuals in my life also entered therapy around that time that had a positive impact on me. And then when I was in my early 20s and going through a really rough season, a therapist I saw then helped me completely change the direction of my life for the better. My thought has been “if more people received therapy, how much better would our world be?” I hope to play a positive role in helping individuals experience meaningful and lasting change.
(While I haven’t yet pursued my PsyD. I believe my MA suits the work I want to do just fine and with much less student loan debt. :p I’ll do it later if I get bored.)
Who can really benefit from working with you?
Motivated female identifying individuals who long to feel empowered, to find their voice, and to feel grounded and present in their day to day lives.

Most rewarding part of your Denver small business?
It’s incredibly rewarding when I see clients step out of old and damaging beliefs about self into ones that are more adaptive and rooted in truth. When clients do this, they operate from a place of wholeness and self-respect that positively impacts all areas of their lives. It’s an amazing gift to see my clients stopping generational patterns in their tracks.
