I thrived working one on one with women and the more women I worked with, the more I realized just how much boudoir photography allows me to connect, uplift, and liberate women. I found it also healed the relationship with myself & my own body. Creating bold & powerful art through a daring & vulnerable experience is so powerful! This pull to dig deep with women & provide a safe space for them to take the next steps in their self-acceptance journey was undeniable.
I know you have many options when it comes to choosing the right photographer for you, & choosing a boudoir photographer is very personal. Does their work speak to you? Is it inclusive & dynamic? Do you trust them? While I can’t answer those questions for you, I can provide you with information that I believe shows why I am a top rated boudoir studio with over 100 five star Google reviews.
What Is Boudoir Photography?
This is such a deeply personal answer depending on who you ask, so I am going to keep it simple. According to Wikipedia, boudoir photography is “a photographic style featuring intimate, sensual, romantic, and sometimes erotic images of its subjects in a photographic studio, bedroom or private dressing room environment, primarily intended for the private enjoyment of the subjects and their romantic partners.” That’s your standard definition, and while true, it’s not the whole truth. Boudoir photography isn’t really about the images, it’s about the experience.
Our Boudoir Photography Process
Blue Flame is a professional full service, elevated photo experience, meaning not only is it the real deal, it’s the whole damn package and then some. Professional hair + makeup, guided posing and experience are a given for any established boudoir studio. So what do these basic elements look like when elevated for your Blue Flame Experience?
Boudoir hair and makeup
I can’t stress this enough; hair and makeup isn’t about making you look like a different person. It’s why I don’t use/show before and after images. It’s not about making you look “better” with makeup or better than how you do your own. It’s about the experience of letting someone else take care of you. It’s about not having to worry about it the day of your boudoir session. It’s all part of the bigger picture that is your boudoir photography experience. I am picky about the makeup artist I work with, which is why I work with a very select few makeup artists. Making sure not only are they experienced with all skin tones, textures and looks, but that they are a comfortable and supportive energy in the studio. I am so proud of the team that elevated the Blue Flame experience, you can meet them all HERE. Last thing I will stress; just like anything else during your time with me, you are in control. There is no pressure to have your makeup look a certain way just because professional makeup is included. It’s whatever you want!
Guided Posing
This is what I am most excited + proud about, and probably what you are most nervous about. I am very aware of all the small details when posing to elevate your images. Body Language is everything in images and it’s vital for me to notice all the little things that make you image evocative. It’s extremely important that you feel comfortable and that is going to come from your trust in me. The biggest concern I hear from clients before their session is around posing. I hear ya and let me tell you, it’s not as scary as you think when you are working with a photographer that knows how to pose you. You don’t need ANY experience in front of a camera and it doesn’t matter if you think you’re awkward or “not photogenic.” This is why I am the professional and specialize in boudoir. I will be guiding you through all the posing, head to toe and even facial expressions. Kinda like a game of Simon Says Boudoir Poses without the pressure, just follow my instructions. Honestly, within 5-10 min you realize how easy it is and start to enjoy it.
Boudoir + Photography Experience
Since boudoir is more of an experience than a photoshoot no detail is left out. From the moment you inquire to even weeks after your session, I am supporting you. When you decide to make the first move and inquire you get a Future Client Magazine filled with information. Then we chat on the phone. It’s important for us to chat on the phone, allowing you to get a better sense of me than you would over email/text. We will go over everything so you have all the information up front. After booking you receive a Welcome Guide, fill out a questionnaire before your Session Design Call. During this call we go over your comfort level, talk about styling, what you want to get out of the session and next steps before your shoot. For your session, you pick the music, I can get you a refreshment and you can sit back and relax for hair & makeup. Right before we start shooting, I give you a card to write down anything you want to remember, how you are feeling, intentions for your session – anything you want, it’s just for you. After shooting, you will do the same. Your feelings/emotions will be so different. When you come back to the studio just 45 min after shooting, you will sit back & relax to a slideshow of your images on a TV. After you choose your favorites & place your product order you can say you DID IT! Leaving with a goodie bag on cloud nine. We will see each other one more time for your product pickup and then a couple weeks after I drop some tips to keep your self love growing in your inbox & you enjoy your images as a reminder of how badass you are forever.
