So, you’re thinking about maybe, possibly looking into a boudoir experience. Hell ya babe, here for it! But I know for many, maybe like you aren’t sure where to start. I am here to break it down and hopefully make it less overwhelming.
I can promise a boudoir experience is not as big and scary as you are hyping it up to be. I can say this with 99.99% certainty because I have worked with enough women who have told me, “wow, that was not as scary as I thought,” or “holy shit, that was actually a ton of fun,” and my favorite “I wish I would have done this sooner.” I get it, I know this is out of your comfort zone, it’s hella vulnerable and scary. While I respect that, I can’t help but to smile just a bit when clients express their nerves because I know just how good the ending is.
First things first, nerves are normal. Embrace that but keep going. Even if you are just nervous about reaching out to a photographer. I know your nervous, I know you don’t how this all works and I want to walk ya through it. So, where’s what to expect from a boudoir experience with me.
- Reach out – just shoot me an email, fill out my inquiry form on my website, DM me etc. Just say ‘hey Mackenzie, I am curious about boudoir‘ and I got it from here 😉 Reaching out is not a commitment to anything, it’s just the step you have to take to start. Good thing it’s an easy one.
- Consultation – I will get back to you about setting up a phone consultation. Yes, a phone chat. I get it, kinda makes me nervous too, talking to a human on the phone! I prefer a phone consultation because it lets you get a sense of me. Hear my voice, feel me out. This is crazy important because it’s imperative that you feel comfortable with your boudoir photographer. We need to vibe and that starts with a phone connection, not text/email. Ya feel me? But also this is when I go over everything, step by step with you. I am going to answer all your questions, hash out any concerns you have, and just overall make the boudoir experience less intimating.
- Book it – by now you have ALL the details, there should be no stone unturned and the next step is up to you. If you decide to move forward with me, we pick a date. To lock it in and get ya booked you sign a contract + pay your session fee.
- Prep – ok at this point there are still some nerves but the excitement really kicks in! You will receive a welcome guide with top-secret info to help prep for your experience. We will also have another phone consultation (if you prefer in person at the studio, that’s an option) to really talk about the planning of your session. Sexy looks/means something different to everyone and it’s important I understand your expectations, wants, and needs. I want to talk more about you, talk about your style, what vibe you want for your session, and plan out the details like makeup, hair, outfits, and poses. Yes, I am going to help with what to wear. I told ya I got ya! You will be asked to fill out a questionnaire and start a Pinterest board. Not required, but very helpful in the planning process.
- Day of – Getting to the chase; I am going to pose you the ENTIRE TIME. Very detailed posing like “relax your left shoulder,” “push your right knee back two inches,” “relax your mouth,” and “arch your back, more…more.” I do NOT expect you to know what to do. This is 100% my job and I am pretty damn good. I pose for emotion and body language to take your images to the next level. All those women on my website + IG, they were all posed by me. Half of them told me they were “not photogenic” or “awkward” in front of the camera. *eye roll* I proved them wrong in the best way possible. Ok, but the day of your session starts with a beverage if ya wish, hair + makeup (if your session includes it), and some chill hang time to allow you to get comfortable in the space and calm the nerves. Keeping it real though, the first five minutes of shooting is awkward. You’re in your undies, with a big camera in your face and a woman coaching you into weird feeling poses. It’s awkward cause it’s different and new. That feeling soon melts away and at this moment I can see you realizing that a boudoir experience is not so scary after all.
There ya have it! Contact me, we chat, we plan, we shoot. Hopefully, that breakdown helps make it seem not so overwhelming. For even more details click here, and if you think you might be ready to at least chat with me, click here to set up your free consultation.
