I am just going to say it, Boudoir Experience Prep isn’t complicated and it’s probably not what you might think. Your body is ready as is so I am not talking about hitting the gym or going to the salon.
With Blue Flame, your Boudoir Experience Prep foundation is your Session Design Call. It’s a common theme that after clients book with me their excitement spikes, as they decided to just do that damn thing. But shortly after that, the nerves kick back in about what to wear/how to prepare. I get it, all the sudden you have nothing to wear. Happens to me every. damn. time. before my own photoshoots. Panic sets in. One reason why the Design Call is so important.
About four to five weeks before your boudoir session we will set up your Design Call. By this time you be asked to fill out a quick questionnaire covering topics about comfort level, your favorite features what empowers you etc… And since words are hard, I do ask you create a Pinterest Board to share with me as a mood board/vibe check for your session that we will dissect during your call.
Breaking Down the Boudoir Experience Prep Cal
- Descriptive Words
I kick the call off by asking for three words that come to mind for how you envision the vibe/style/feeling of your boudoir images. No wrong answer here & we will unpack what they mean to you. This is why that Pinterest Board is so helpful – I get a visual of that vibe without you trying to describe it.
2. What to Wear
Keeping your words in mind, next for your Boudoir Experience Prep we chat outfits. Sessions include three looks and we want to make sure your pieces fit the vibe. If you have things in mind, we will go over them together where I am happy to give input/advice if wanted. If you are overwhelmed don’t know where to start, look to that Pinterest Board for looks. Many times there is a reoccurring outfit/look you pinned. I will also help with ideas & to get clear on this topic. A Boudoir Experience is much more about you than what you are wearing, no need to overcomplicate. Outfits can be whatever makes you feel sexy + empowered, lingerie or not. Blue Flame BONUS – if you want to elevate your styling even more add on Personal Styling with our in house Personal Stylist + Coach, Sam.
3. Hair + Makeup
Whether you want a little or a lot of makeup we need to go over it. Plus everyone’s idea of those two vary. GREATLY. Again, this is where the Pinterest Board helps! Pin makeup looks you like to share with the artist. Makeup is included in your session but not required. If/how/what is 100% up to you and what you like + want. What is your hair like? If you have the length, I suggest loose waves. If you have natural texture and want to leave it as is, yes please.
4. Comfort Level
A HUGE part of your Boudoir Experience Prep is consent. You are in control of how sexy/nude you get. There is ZERO pressure for anything. If you want to go topless – let’s do it. If you aren’t feeling it – let’s not. Want to play it by ear & see how you are feeling while we are shooting – music to my ears. We will talk about what kind of poses empower you, if you want to push your comfort zone and nudity is something you would like to capture.
5. Editing
Besides my overall editing style, editing is up to you. My “norm” is a very light skin smooth + removing anything not permanent to your body like a bruise, pimple or scratch. Permanent and beautiful things like stretch marks, moles and cellulite stay. Unless you wish otherwise. So will cover this as part of your Boudoir Experience Prep.
6. Plus Anything Else
After unpacking all those main details, it’s onto whatever else you want to cover with me.
By the end of the call, we will both be prepped and have a clear vision for your boudoir session. Your nerves that came back around should be a little more quit and the stress of “what do I wear” less. And if they come back and you get overwhelmed again, I am there to help. Seriously, some clients send pictures of them in dressing rooms asking my opinion and I am HERE FOR IT! Your Boudoir Experience Prep is an important and fun part of this journey.
