A Boudoir Experience is more than likely something you will just have to jump into, ’cause if you are waiting to “be ready” you will just wait forever. And waiting for something hasn’t gotten anyone very far efficiently. It’s like jumping out of an airplane; (so I imagine, cause I have and would never jump. Maybe a bad analogy) because you have to trust the process, you have the expertise of your instructor and you *hopefully* did your research to be as prepared as you could be. It’s not a blind jump, it’s an informed one.
I want to help inform you before your jump with questions that aren’t as obvious to ask yourself to be ready for a boudoir experience. After this homework, I also have 5 Questions to Ask Your Boudoir Photographer Before Booking. I got all sides covered to help make your Boudoir Experience the best possible, because it’s a big deal.
Is budget or experience more important to me?
If price shopping is more important to you, understand that you will be sacrificing experience. Nothing wrong with that, just consider if it’s worth having a subpar or negative boudoir experience.
Am I familiar w/ industry standards?
What you assume or hope to invest might not be in line with the industry standard. Get familiar with standards in your area to manage expectations with process & pricing.
Am I wanting a boudoir experience this for the right reasons?
To get the most from your experience, understand the importance of doing this for yourself first. That being mentally ready & meeting your photographer half way is key to a solid start.
What style am I looking for?
Have an idea of what style of photography you like. Create a list before looking at portfolios so you can make sure to check off your non-negotiables while looking. Look/ask for full galleries, variety in poses & people.
What do I need from the photographer to feel comfortable for my boudoir EXPERIENCE?
This is a personal, vulnerable & intimate experience. Only you wiIl know what you will need from your photographer to feel comfortable, so make another list before looking & talking with potential photographers to make sure they check your boxes.
