When one of my makeup artists posted about some Halloween inspiration, I jumped at the idea for some Halloween Boudoir.
Hailey of Suite Remedy (check out her work here) is one of three Denver makeup artists that I work with for my boudoir experiences. Hailey is incredibly talented and one of the nicest girls you will meet! Honestly, Halloween boudoir isn’t usually on my radar, I don’t get too wrapped up in the spooky season. But when she posted some witchy inspiration on her Instagram stories, one of them really jumped out to me. So, I dropped into her DMs and she was stoked to take that inspiration and make it our own.
She made the crown, brought some faux black roses and I have tons of sheer material. Probably one of the easiest styled shoots I have done yet, keeping it simple was a main focus. I wanted the texture of the sheer fabric and the contrast of the black elements. It was ironic that we were doing a spooky Halloween boudoir shoot but keeping it mainly very bright. Towards the end I had to play around with some darker images of course, dark is my jam.
I also wanted to incorporate my Smoke Session effect for some more texture and spooky/unique elements. Hailey was down for whatever, even entertaining my idea to soak the sheer dress for a different effect. I LOVE styled shoots, they are a great time to really get creative and try new techniques. I messed around with slowing down my shutter to get more movement and double exposures for some ghost like images.
My plan was to only shoot for maybe 90 minutes max, but I believe we doubled that probably would have kept going if it wasn’t for an appointment I had that afternoon. When the creative juices are flowing, you don’t stop! Halloween boudoir might have jumped up on my radar after this shoot with Hailey.
